My confusion was because my personal approach has always been to tag at will, then send a gleeful message informing my victim/chosen ones that their honour is at stake if they don't join in. Clearly Dorkymum is a cut above. Which is not too surprising, I'm a right 'prole me.
Anyway, this meme is called "why". It's dead simple. Kids like saying why. Why? Dunno. But they do. It's an indisputable FACT. Actually, my kid's only eight weeks old, so I'm going to have to assume he will, at some point, like asking why.
The meme is our chance, as parents, to ask some questions back, so here I go:
Why are you crying?
Why do you think the best time to unleash your brown fury upon the world is precisely the same time as I take your nappy OFF?
Why are you crying now?
Why can't I stop looking at you?
Why do you have to grow so fast?
Why are you crying now?
Why are the things that calm you down things that would wind me up?
Why is your leg shaking like that? Oh.
Why do you wait until just after I've taken off your bib to be sick?
Why are you so absolutely bloody gorgeous?
Why didn't anyone tell us how hard it would be?
Why didn't we listen to the ones who tried?
Why, why, why are you crying now?
Why don't I care about any of the unpleasant things you do, the moment your eyes light up and you flash me a smile?
I'm only going to tag a few people here (and I haven't asked them): @ClaireAgius, @_firsttimedaddy and @Sunnivaanne
You've got me off to a smiling start this morning!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear it, hope the rest of your day was good :-)
DeleteWhy? Because he can and you're his Daddy!
ReplyDeleteFab post :)
Thank you :-)
DeleteHe certainly can...
Nice one. Bloody honest and makes me ask one question:
ReplyDeleteWhy can't I blog as well as you, you talented and handsome bastard? ;-)
Cheers dude. I don't need to answer your question, because it's moot, you can and do.
DeleteErm. Why was his leg shaking like that? I'm genuinely interested.
ReplyDeleteHe shakes his leg in quite a hilarious fashion when trying to poo. It's quite funny now, but was confusing the first time.
Delete'Why' is just a word, yet it is perhaps the most important word we will ever use. Yes 'love' is great but 'why' applies to more...it applies to everything.
ReplyDeleteThrough 'why' we question everything around us and so can grow into thepeople we do, but sadly many stop asking 'why' when they become an adult. Words like job, routein, responsability, recession, politics, duty, control and money push this important word aside.
Its a great post, its a great word championed by Socrates himself who used 'The Socratic Way' to get to the bottom of the deepest questions and it is a great sign. A sign that you are set to be a magical father...always ask 'why' and thank you for such a great piece of blogging.
Thank you for such a lovely comment, though I can't take any credit for the theme of the post :-)
